This CHS website was first created in 2019, in readiness for  College100, the centennial celebrations for the RAF College in 2020. It had been intended to limit CHS research to the achievements of College alumni from the four distinct eras of that 100 years: Era 1 - the Pre-WWII Flight Cadet era of 1920-1939; Era 2 - the College SFTS War Years of 1939-1945; Era 3 - the Post-WWII Flight Cadet and Graduate Entry era of 1945-1979; Era 4 - the Single Gate Initial Officer Training era of 1980-2019.

Somewhat disrupted by Covid lockdowns, the College centennial in 2020 also heralded the new Modular Initial Officer Training era and the renaming of the College to the RAF Officer Training Academy. Shortly afterwards, the RAF set up an all ranks alumni organisation, Galaxy, as part of its overarching ASTRA initiative for the modern RAF and its service personnel. It would be churlish to ignore these initiatives and, though beyond the scope of the CHS, we take the opportunity here to reproduce some of the excellent PR posted by the Academy to celebrate the graduation of MIOT cadets, and we would like to join the celebrations and wish them all well in their new careers.
